Established in 1990, St George’s International School Luxembourg is an inclusive, vibrant international community of approximately 870 students aged from 3 years to 18+ years, representing over 70 nationalities. This rich diversity provides a unique and exciting learning environment for every child. To prepare its students to be outstanding 21st-century global citizens, the school nurtures strong values in its students, based on mutual understanding and respect.

Considerable care is taken to ensure that learning is personalised according to individual needs. The school believes that students thrive when there is a strong partnership between school and home, and pride themselves on offering a warm welcome and providing ongoing support for all new families.

The youngest children in school (ages 3-4) begin with the Foundation stage, this targets physical and emotional development and the foundation of literacy, numeracy, communication and language skills. Children experience learning in a free-flowing, indoor/outdoor environment which supports their developing creativity and problem-solving skills. St George’s recognises the importance of play in child development, this is why the school provides a friendly, safe and stimulating environment for the children to invent, explore and exercise their imaginations.

Underpinned by the National Curriculum for England, the primary section of St George’s has devised a bespoke curriculum, ensuring that learning is tailored to the school context. This takes into account the local context, with many opportunities to weave in the Luxembourgish perspective, whilst also including an international flavour, recognising the broad and varied backgrounds of the students.

St George’s Secondary school provides a challenging and caring learning environment where there are high expectations of all students. The school is small enough to be able to focus on the individual needs of the student, but large enough to offer a broad and balanced academic curriculum. The Secondary school has over 340 students, with over 60 in Key Stage 5 (Years 12-13). The school intentionally places an equal focus on learning and wellbeing, and students are offered the opportunity to study for (I)GCSEs and A Levels, alongside the development of other pathways.

The school’s vision is to be a learning environment in which all students and staff strive for excellence in all that they do, achieving potential through challenge and care to enable them to make positive contributions to society, and to become confident global citizens.

St George’s is led by a Senior Management Team (SMT) consisting of the School Principal, the Headteacher (Primary)/Vice-Principal, the Headteacher (Secondary) and the Finance and Administration Manager. The School is overseen by a Board of Governors, which is responsible for upholding the aims and objectives of the School, setting the strategic direction and ensuring the School has the required resources and financing to operate effectively.

St George’s International School Luxembourg operates as a not-for-profit trust. The school is honoured to have the patronage of the British Ambassador to Luxembourg and is supported by the City of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Ministry of Education. The School is also subject to regular inspections by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
