Opened in September 2024, Charterhouse Lagos sets a new standard in education provision in Nigeria and West Africa. With world-class facilities and a focus on excellence, they will develop in their students a passion for learning, for excellence and for leadership.

Charterhouse Lagos offers an international education for students aged 5 to 18 (Years 1 to 13) using the British curriculum which will lead to the IGCSE and A-level qualifications. These will allow their students to aspire to the very best universities worldwide. Phase 1 of the building programme opened in September 2024 and phase 2, with the secondary school facilities opened in September 2025. Phase 3 will follow over the next few years. Years 1 to 9 are already established in the primary school and they are adding Years 10 to 12 in secondary school in September 2025.

The school community is self-contained and lies in Ajah on the Lekki Peninsula, south of mainland Lagos. The secure compound offers the best educational facilities in Nigeria. 24-hour security ensures that their students and staff can take advantage of the amazing facilities. They expect the majority of their secondary school students will board at the school.

Facilities include fully connected classrooms, science and STEM labs, music, art, drama and library spaces, an 800-seat professional standard theatre, a 25-metre competition pool, along with a learn-to-swim pool, an NBA standard indoor basketball stadium, outdoor and indoor football pitches, and a beautifully landscaped campus that offers relaxation as well as a connection to nature.

The Head of Primary School will provide vision and leadership in the development of a distinctive strategy and direction for their school in the areas of: student learning; academic achievement and pastoral care; engagement with the community; school spirit; sport and the arts. They will align the school and teams to deliver against that strategy and ensure alignment with the overall Charterhouse Lagos strategy. They will ensure the delivery of education and services addressing the current and emerging needs of the school’s students by continually reviewing the composition and content of the school’s educational offering and services.

The Head of Primary should be an adaptable educator and innovative leader. They should be an outstanding motivator, communicator and trainer and should be capable of managing key aspects of an expanding and high-profile International School. They will be responsible to the Head and part of the School Leadership Team (SLT), and will have a key role in the development of Charterhouse Lagos.

Experience of school leadership in a British school is essential and international experience is desirable. The central focus of this position will be to build and develop the primary school after an excellent start from the Founding Head of Primary.
