The Board of Calrossy Anglican School is seeking a new Principal to lead the School in the next phase of its development, particularly building on its new Strategic Plan and Masterplan. The role will commence in January 2026.
Calrossy Anglican School, a leading, regional, independent, day and boarding institution, offers a holistic education for boys and girls from preschool to secondary school. Located in scenic Tamworth, New South Wales, Calrossy has been a cornerstone of educational excellence since its founding in 1919.
Calrossy is a non-selective, co-educational, day and boarding school, constituted through an Ordinance of the Anglican Diocese of Armidale. Its enrolment of just over 1000 students spans a preparatory school, junior school, and middle school on the William Cowper campus, senior school and girls’ boarding on the Brisbane St campus, boys’ boarding at Simpson House and a farm, ‘Tangara’, outside Tamworth.
The current Principal, Mr David Smith has served the School very well over the past 8 years, including through the difficulties of the COVID years. With the conclusion of David’s contract at the end of 2025, the Board is seeking someone with a different skill set to build on what David and his team have accomplished, over this next phase of Calrossy’s life.
The next Principal of Calrossy Anglican School will continue to develop the school’s educational profile in a Christian context within the independent school sector, to meet the needs of its current and future students. This will require visionary and strategic leadership of the School and all staff across its two campuses and boarding houses, implementation of the new Strategic Plan, development of the staff team and continuing effective engagement with all stakeholders.
The Board welcomes applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons, who show publicly and privately their faith in Jesus Christ. Candidates must satisfy the requirements of Calrossy’s Constitution that “The Principal shall be a person of Christian faith and character and who is a participating member of a Christian denomination acceptable to the Bishop and shall undertake to support the principles and direction of the Anglican Church of Australia and as expressed in this Constitution.”
Calrossy Anglican School is committed to fostering academic excellence, spiritual growth, and a sense of community.
