ICS Côte d’Azur is a bilingual, coeducational, non-sectarian, IB World Primary School serving the international and local community in the Sophia Antipolis region. The school offers Early Years and Primary Years education from KG1 (age 3) to PY6 (age 11). ICS Côte d’Azur is a member of the Globeducate network. Formerly known as EBICA, the school’s multicultural learning community enjoys a modern and secure campus in Sophia Antipolis, Valbonne, southwest of Nice.
Recognised as an IB World School since 2018, ICS Côte d’Azur welcomes students from around the world, offering an international education within the inquiry-based framework of the IB Primary Years Programme, whilst also integrating elements of the national curricula for England and France.
The school attracts internationally-minded families with aspirations for their children to learn in French and English from the early years onwards. Within the multicultural community, students are immersed in both languages with equal measure, in an environment that promotes international understanding while fostering an appreciation of French culture.
ICS Côte d’Azur offers a language support programme for French as a foreign language (FFL) learners and English as an additional language (EAL) learners. These support lessons for beginners assist acquisition in either language, bringing them the linguistic competencies required to access the curriculum and progress with confidence.
Through learner-centred teaching, ICS Côte d’Azur empowers students, as agents in their IB journey, to develop the self-knowledge and confidence to create their successes. In an environment that fosters cross-cultural understanding, students develop the attributes of the IB learner profile, which equips them with the essential skills to be successful in a diverse and connected world.
Sophia Antipolis is a rich area for science and technology, often referred to as the ‘Silicon Valley’ of Europe. To reflect its location, the school offers an innovative STEAM programme (Science, Technology, Maths, Art and Engineering), with a dedicated tinkering lab called ‘The Hub’, LEGO® Education kits, and Apple products in the classroom. The vision behind this cutting-edge STEAM initiative is for students to acquire the critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills that will be essential for the future. ICS Côte d’Azur was recognised with two awards for exceptional achievement at the Globeducate Leadership Conference in July 2022: Regional School of the Year for France 2022 and Globeducate School of the Year 2022.
Joining ICS Cote d’Azur at this time means leading the school at an exciting stage of the school’s development. This will be a demanding but fulfilling role for a current Head of School or experienced, aspiring senior leader who has a global mindset, is passionate about building relationships, and who would enjoy contributing and fostering strong links within the ICS cluster of Globeducate schools.
The successful candidate will be taking over from the current Head of School who is retiring at the end of this school year. The new head will be taking up their functions in July 2023.
