Head of Primary

Broadoaks British School
Abuja, Nigeria

Broadoaks British School offers an inclusive, academically challenging, and selective, co-educational British-style day education to national and international students from Nursery to Year 8, and is growing year on year to become an all-through school, to include nursery, primary and secondary schools.

Teenee Todds, the day nursery of Broadoaks British School, was originally established in 2010 and offers a safe, hygienic, and enabling environment for children aged 3 months to 5 years. The nursery provides a world class service to its ever-growing client base. Broadoaks British School opened in September 2016 when demand from Teenee Todds parents with older children provided the need for an equally safe, secure and excellent primary school. The school currently provides a broad, balanced and secure educational environment for children aged 5 to 13 years, with Years 7 and 8 opening this academic year. Following the National Curriculum for England and Wales, Broadoaks British School maintains high levels of teaching and learning as well as providing the love and care that parents desire for their children.

The Director of Schools, Board of Directors and staff have worked very hard to establish Broadoaks British School as a well-known, first-rate educational choice for pupils and parents. The school is located in a purpose-built, well-resourced campus, with state-of-the-art facilities, and is located in a safe and secure environment.

At the core of the schools are the children. Confident, polite, respectful and eloquent, children of Teenee Todds Day Nursery and Broadoaks British School stand out from the crowd. With an international student population, children interact daily with peers from around the world: Nigeria, Togo, Italy, the United Kingdom, America, Indonesia, India, Germany, France are just some of the many cultures represented. They learn how to respect and care for those who may seem different to themselves, whether it be the way they look, how they learn, speak or behave. Children at Teenee Todds and Broadoaks are welcoming and accepting of all.

All staff of Teenee Todds Day Nursery and Broadoaks British School share the passion to provide an excellent foundation and education to the students. All teachers at the schools have a recognised qualification in education and are encouraged to continually further their skills by taking part in professional development programmes. Respect for self and respect for others is a key component of the school’s culture, along with kindness, honesty and integrity and the staff emulate these values in all they do. Staff and children feel appreciated and respected and are therefore comfortable and happy in their environment.

As Broadoaks British School grows and thrives, the Board of Directors and Head of School are seeking to appoint an inspirational and experienced Head of Primary to lead the primary school through the next stage of its development and support with the overall leadership of the whole school. The new Head of Primary will have a very strong understanding and experience of international education and of leading primary schools teaching the National Curriculum for England and Wales. An understanding of the culture and context of working in Africa would also be of real benefit.
