Founded in 1924 by local parents, teachers, education and pedagogical visionaries and officials from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the League of Nations (the precursor to the UN) as the world’s first ever international school, the Foundation of the International School of Geneva, commonly known as Ecolint is very proud of its highly diverse student body, comprised of 140 nationalities and 80 mother tongues.
Ecolint exists to educate for peace and to inculcate strong humanitarian values of inclusiveness, respect and inter-cultural understanding in everything it does. The school is resolutely not-for-profit, with a mission to educate students to be global citizens with the courage and capacity to create a just and joyful tomorrow together.
Having espoused the concept of child-centred education since Ecolint’s foundation in 1924, the school has been innovating pedagogically ever since. The birthplace of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, Ecolint is extremely proud of its rigorous academic approach and the results it achieves in all its programmes, especially in light of its inclusive admissions policy which means a child is never refused entry on grounds of academic ability.
On the eve of its 100th anniversary, the Governing Board of Ecolint is searching for an inspirational leader to fill the role of Director General (DG).
One of the most prominent posts in international education, the role of DG of Ecolint is a complex, wide-ranging, demanding and rewarding leadership challenge.
The Board is seeking a visionary and compassionate leader with a track record of inspiring staff, engaging parents and motivating students, to spearhead a vibrant international school at the leading edge of educational excellence.
This is an exciting opportunity for a person appreciative of Ecolint’s history, to lead a bilingual school which exemplifies the power of ‘education for peace,’ and which welcomes all students, regardless of their abilities on the learning spectrum.
