A Case Study in Foundational Leadership
A Visionary Leader for Moldova's Leading International School
Established in 2017, Heritage International School is the first and only Cambridge International School in Moldova. Having rapidly evolved into a leading institution and a recognized model school, its founders needed to appoint a new Director to build on their initial success. The new leader had to be a champion of multiculturalism and a strong advocate for international education, capable of consolidating and expanding on the school's unique blend of the Cambridge International Curriculum and national standards. The role required an inspirational leader who would nurture the school’s community and further its academic and pastoral success.
A Broad and Thorough Global Search
The school's Board, introduced to LSC Education through our network, chose us as their search partner. We worked closely with the founders to deeply understand the school's culture and its vision for the future. We then conducted a broad and thorough global search, speaking with over 80 candidates about the opportunity. Our process resulted in a strong longlist of 8 candidates, with 3 exceptional leaders being shortlisted for a two-day interview and assessment process at the school in Chisinau, Moldova. This immersive, on-site process was organized and led by LSC, ensuring a thorough evaluation. The entire search, from briefing to appointment, was completed in just 10 weeks.
The Appointment of an Ideal Community Leader
The Board was delighted to appoint Casey Barnes, who commenced in role as Director in August 2025. Casey comes from his post as Principal at BCIS International School (an ISP school) in Phuket, Thailand. The founders were confident that Casey is the right leader to nurture the strong community and family feel of the school while also networking and collaborating internationally to secure Heritage's place on the global stage.

We were delighted with the clear and very well organised process. We felt secure and were sure that the process would be successful. There was no stress at all and we had 100% confidence that we would find the suitable candidate.
