The Board of Governors of British School Muscat is currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and effective school leader to become its new Head of Primary School from August 2019. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a thriving school which is one of the leading education facilities in the Middle East.
British School Muscat (BSM) is a not-for-profit, co-educational British International Day School that provides a comprehensive and balanced education to a mix of approximately 1,235 English speaking expatriate students. The vision of the school is to be one of the leading British international schools in the world.
BSM was established in 1971 when it was granted a royal charter by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. Since then they have become a leading British international school in the Middle East. They are the only not-for-profit, co-educational British school in Oman providing a high quality education to children of wide ranging abilities and nationalities.
The school provides a broad and balanced curriculum based on the national curriculum for England and the Early years foundation stage statutory framework (EYFS). The curriculum is enriched to reflect their international setting and the diversity of their students. It is personalised and brought to life by a talented and dedicated staff of teachers and assistants, who work closely to inspire and support all the students. BSM’s growing international reputation for excellence and innovation helps them to attract, retain and develop high quality UK trained teachers who are proud to work with their engaged, motivated and high achieving students. To prepare their students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, the school values learning that focuses on high performance in public examinations, healthy living and wellbeing, character development and global citizenship. The school calls this approach the BSM Learning Ethos and it underpins learning and teaching throughout the school.
The aim of the BSM Learning Ethos is to nurture and support their students to grow into:
● Secure individuals
● Resourceful learners
● Respect for contributors BSM’s 2018
Key Stage 2 and GCSE results placed them in the top 3 British international schools in the Middle East and in the top 5% compared to independent and state schools in the UK.

These include 2 large sports halls, large outdoor playgrounds, swimming pools, science labs, specialist facilities for Art, Design Technology, Drama, Music, Media and Computing and a large all-weather pitch with a spectator grandstand.
